Guide

Your first facial: what to expect.

If you have never had a facial at Atlas of Beauty, here is how an appointment may be planned around the service booked and your consultation.

The calm treatment room at Atlas of Beauty, prepared for an appointment

Arriving

The studio is at 712 Sturt Street, Ballarat Central. Enter through the arch and up the stairs.

The studio is private and open by appointment only. Arrive a few minutes early if you can, so you have time to settle before the appointment begins.

The conversation first

Before anything is put on your skin, we talk. What your skin has been doing lately, what you use on it, what has and has not worked, and how you have been feeling generally.

This is also where you mention anything relevant, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, medications, previous reactions or a skin condition you are managing.

During the treatment

The treatment is provided one-on-one in a private room for the duration of your booked appointment. If anything is uncomfortable, please say so.

  • Consultation — Your skin, preferences and any relevant sensitivities are discussed before treatment.
  • Treatment — Your treatment may include cleansing, tailored skincare and a combination of manual facial techniques, depending on the service booked and your consultation.
  • Comfort — Pressure and technique can be adjusted, and you can ask questions at any stage.

Afterwards

Results vary according to your skin and the treatment booked. Some clients notice temporary redness or warmth after hands-on facial techniques.

At the end of your appointment, Phebbe will explain any relevant aftercare and answer your questions.

Our

Frequently asked questions.

What should I do before my appointment?+

Very little. You can come as you are. Cleansing and other preparation will depend on the facial you have booked and your consultation.

It helps to arrive a few minutes early rather than exactly on time, so the first conversation is not rushed.

Do I need to take anything off?+

Phebbe will explain any preparation needed for the treatment you have booked. You can ask questions before the treatment begins.

Will you talk to me the whole time?+

Only if you want that. The conversation happens at the start, about your skin and how you are feeling, and after that quiet is completely normal. Many clients fall asleep.

Should I book the 60-minute or the 90-minute treatment?+

For a first appointment, The Aura Ritual at 90 minutes and $249 is the recommendation. It includes every technique, so it shows us the most about your skin and gives you the most to judge from.

What will my skin look like afterwards?+

Results vary according to your skin and the treatment booked. Some clients notice temporary redness or warmth after hands-on techniques such as facial cupping.

If you have a specific skin concern or condition, please mention it when you book so the treatment can be planned properly, and speak with your GP or dermatologist for anything medical.

How soon should I come back?+

Treatment frequency depends on your skin, preferences and goals. Recommendations can be discussed during your appointment without pressure.

Not sure where to start?

Most first-time clients begin with The Aura Ritual: 90 minutes that bring every facial technique together in one treatment.
