Facial technique
Gua sha uses a smooth facial tool with gentle, controlled movements across the skin. It can feel relaxing and may temporarily leave the skin looking refreshed.

Gua sha uses a smooth facial tool with contoured edges, shaped to sit along areas such as the jaw, cheekbone and brow. With a little oil for slip, it is moved gently across the skin in controlled strokes.
It is not intended to scrape or cause pain. The pace and pressure are adjusted for comfort throughout the treatment.
In a facial, gua sha comes after the face has been cleansed and warmed, which is why it feels quite different from picking up a stone at home on dry skin at the end of a long day.
The face is cleansed and slip is applied. The first strokes are along the neck and jawline, then up through the cheek, around the eye socket, across the brow and into the hairline.
The stone is warm from the room, and the sound is nothing more than a soft glide. Where there is real tightness, most people notice the difference between the first pass and the fourth.
Both sides are worked with the same careful, controlled approach.
Gua sha may suit clients who enjoy gentle, rhythmic facial massage or would like their skin to look temporarily refreshed.
If your skin is currently reactive, broken out or sensitised, tell us when you arrive and the technique is adjusted or worked around.
Some clients find the movements relaxing and notice that their skin looks temporarily refreshed afterwards. Results vary between individuals.
Gua sha is included where it suits the client in this 60-minute, massage-led treatment. It is always included in The Aura Ritual, 90 minutes at $249.
Treatment frequency depends on your preferences and goals. Any relevant aftercare is explained during your appointment.
Our
Gua sha uses a smooth, contoured facial tool with gentle, controlled movements across the skin, usually with oil or another product for slip.
It should not be painful. The pressure is controlled and can be adjusted at any point, and many clients find the movements relaxing.
The tool is the same idea, but the angle, sequence and pressure are what make the difference, and it is much easier to work with a face you can see all of.
In treatment gua sha also follows on from cleansing, warmth and other techniques, so the tissue is already prepared.
Gua sha is always included in The Aura Ritual, 90 minutes at $249. In The Aura Lift, 60 minutes at $150, it is included where it suits the client's skin and needs on the day.
Treatment frequency is personal. Some clients enjoy regular appointments, while others book gua sha as part of an occasional facial.
Most first-time clients begin with The Aura Ritual: 90 minutes that bring every facial technique together in one treatment.
