A quiet massage room with warm towels and low light at Atlas of Beauty

Relaxation, not remedial

This is a relaxation massage, not remedial or medical treatment. It uses slow, flowing movements designed to support relaxation and provide a calm break from daily life.

If you have a strain, a specific pain pattern or something that needs clinical assessment, a remedial therapist, physiotherapist or your GP is the right place to start. Come here for the other thing: the hour where nothing is being fixed and nothing is being asked of you.

What happens in the room at Atlas

Every treatment is provided one-on-one in a private room for the duration of your booked appointment.

The massage works through the back, shoulders, neck and limbs with long, even strokes, pausing longer where the tissue is holding. If you would like more or less pressure, you only need to say so.

Most clients stop talking within a few minutes and a good number fall asleep. That is the appointment working exactly as intended.

Who it suits

It suits anyone running at capacity: long weeks, broken sleep, small children, too much sitting, too much carrying.

It may also suit people who prefer a quiet, private treatment setting.

How it may help

Clients may feel relaxed after the appointment. Experiences vary, and there is no required treatment schedule.
